Further collaboration is the the subject of an Austrian science grant to be submitted early 2003. Prof. M. DiemNorth Eastern University, Boston and Dr. Luis Chiriboga, Bellevue Hospital , NY ,. Dr. B Wood (RF) spent 5 months in New York in 2001/2002 studying the IR spectra of cell nuclei. This work was the subject of a successful 2003-2005 NHMRC grant application and was followed up by a visit in 2007. Dr. S. BaureckerGKSS-Forschungszentrum Geesthacht GmbH, Geesacht. Dr. Baurecker is a principal investigator on an ARC Discovery project application. DMcN has spent time in Geesacht and 2 German graduate students have made 3 visits to Monash between 2003-2007. Dr. Mark TobinAustralian synchrotron collaborates on a number of our projects that require diffraction limited IR microspectroscopy. Dr. Mario GiordanoAncona , Italy spent 3 months at Monash in the laboratory of JB as part of a collaboration on the use of IR to monitor cellular chemistry of algae and will visit again in 2010. See Provasoloni award above Prof. Ken HallerSuranaree University is collaborating on X-Ray Structures of porphyrins. A post graduate student spent 9 months at Monash in 2007/8. Dr. Brian CookMicrobiology is involved in our Raman/malaria work and is providing samples. Prof Leann Tilleyof Latrobe university, Biochemistry is involved in our Raman/malaria work and is providing samples of malarial infested red blood cells.. Prof. Claude Bernardof the Monash Immunological and Stem Cell Centre (MISCL) together with Dr. Phil Heraud collaborates in the area of Multiple sclerosis through a jointly supervised graduate student.. Dr Andrew Elefantyof the Monash Immunological and Stem Cell Centre (MISCL) together with Dr. Phil Heraud collaborates in the area of stem cell differentiation through a jointly supervised graduate student.. Dr. Merrill Rowleyof biochemistry at Monash collaborates in the area of Rheumatoid arthritis through a jointly supervised graduate student. Prof. Jurgen Popp and Dr. Volker Deckertof Jena University collaborate on Raman microscopy and Tip Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy through graduate student exchanges and a Humboldt fellowship awarded to Bayden Wood for 2008. Prof. Dieter Naumannof the Robert Koch Institute Berlin, collaborates on bacterial projects and Raman imaging through exchanges a Humboldt fellowship awarded to Bayden Wood for 2008. |
