Prof. Rohit Bhargava

Prof. Rohit Bhargava is currently an assistant professor of Bioengineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. His laboratories are located in the Beckman Institute and Micro and Nanotechnology Laboratory, he is affiliated with the computational science and energy program and has been a faculty fellow at the National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA). Rohit received a Ph.D. in Macromolecular Science from Case Western Reserve University and a B.Tech. dual degree (Chemical Engineering and Polymer Science and Engineering) from the Indian Institute of Technology, New Delhi. Until fall 2005, he worked as a Research Fellow at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD in the laboratory of chemical physics, NIDDK. Research in the Bhargava laboratories focuses on basic optical theory, developing new instrumentation, application of spectroscopic imaging to biomedical and polymer problems and numerical analyses. The research work has received awards, including the Society of Applied Spectroscopy Meggers Award (twice), named lectureships, a DoD Young Investigator award and Rohit is frequently nominated to the list of teachers ranked excellent at Illinois.
