Completed the doctoral course at The University of Tokyo Graduate School of Science in 2001. Served as Assistant Professor at the Department of Chemistry, School of Science, the University of Tokyo from 2001, and has been in current position since 2007. Research interests include molecular spectroscopic imaging using CARS microspectroscopy, development of CARS (coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering) microspectroscopy using a white laser source, and in vivo measurement of biomedical tissues by coherent Raman endospectroscopy.
