About CSI

The Centre for Scientific Instrumentation (CSI) designs and builds cost-effective, scientific instruments for use in teaching and research.

We develop designs from the concept stage through to completed, thoroughly-tested instruments which come with a  “value-add” package including:

  • operating instructions on how the instrumentation works
  • software to control the instrument and capture data using a personal computer running under most versions of the Windows, Mac or Linux operating systems
  • teaching experiments

Explore our web site for information about our philosophy, our instruments and their “value-add” packages, instrument applications, research on instruments under development, and building your own instruments.

CSI is funded by the Victorian Institute for Chemical Sciences (VICS), a joint initiative of Monash, Melbourne and RMIT Universities
