PhD Students

The average time for completion of a full research PhD takes 3-4 years. The requirement is a four year first class or high second class Honours degree or equivalent. The minimum requirements are set by the University, however a strong support from Professor Bond is required to be successful in obtaining a scholarship. Professor Bond might be contacted directly, eventually a full CV is needed and the usual names of two or three academic referees.

The basic postgraduate scholarships available are the Australian Postgraduate Award (APA) and the Monash Postgraduate Scholarship (MGS), both are currently (2007) funded with $19,616 pa tax free. Whereas the former one is only available to Australian citizens and permanent residents, the MGS also is opened to international students. International students may also apply for an International Postgraduate Research Scholarship (IPRS) which covers the tuition fees and health insurance.

Deadline for applications usually is 30 October. More information might be found at the Monash Research Graduate School.
