Undergraduate StudiesSustainable Chemistry (3rd year elective CHM 3972)This 3rd year subject investigates how chemistry can contribute toEcologically Sustainable Development (ESD). It consists of two major subject areas and an applied chemistry project.
Green ChemistryThe creation of new materials and chemical processes which reduce environmental impacts while remaining cost-effective and useful.
Energy ChemistryThe problems associated with current methods of energy production and thee development of new, alternative technologies.
Applied Chemistry ProjectA substantial laboratory project relating to sustainable chemistry research. OpportunitiesMonash University is the only academic institution in the world with a dedicated research facility in multi-disciplinary Green Chemistry. Graduates of this 3rd year subject therefore have exciting opportunities in honours and post-graduates research at the Centre for Green Chemistry. Pre-requisite12 points of level 1 chemistry and normally 12 points of level 2 chemistry. Students without 12 points of 2nd level chemistry should consult the co-ordinator. ProhibitionsStudents who have completed CHM3031, CHM3042, CHM3051 or CHM3062 must consult the coordinator.
