  1. Heavy Metal Fluoride Glass

    We have been very active in the field of heavy metal fluoride glass/ceramics. Fluoride glasses doped with substantial quantities of chloride ions as well as activator dopants such as europium (II) have been found to exhibit photoluminescence.

  2. Electroluminescence of ZnS quantum dots.

    Nano crystallized ZnS doped with certain activator ions exhibits electroluminescence under an AC electric field.These materials are considered to be the luminophors for the next generation of displays. We have commenced a new study examining the chemistry of these materials in an effort to more fully understand the synthesis of these quantum dots (for example the role of capping agents in maintaining nano sizing) as well as designing and manufacturing electroluminescent devices.
