VICOSC001 Solar Cell Device Engineer for the development of flexible plastic solar cells

The appointee will be responsible for the development of new device concepts, materials and processes that allow the fabrication of high-efficiency flexible solar cells on plastics. Within VICOSC and ACES there is a strong team of researchers that works on the development of novel molecular and nanostructured materials. You will help to scrutinize those new materials for their applicability in organic solar cells and provide valuable input towards the fabrication strategies that lead to the next generation of photovoltaic materials and devices. You will thereby strongly collaborate with other researchers within VICOSC.

Selection Criteria

a) Essential:

  • A relevant doctoral qualification in Chemistry, Physics, Material Engineering, Electrical/Electronics Engineering or a related discipline
  • Proof of significant research output during/after your PhD (publications, patents, conference contributions, technical reports)
  • Experience in the assembly and characterization of organic solar cells
  • Experience in the characterization of novel molecular and nanostructured materials
  • A background in printable electronics
  • Excellent oral communication and writing skills
  • Proved team-work experience and capacity

b) Desirable:

  • A background in the fabrication and characterization of flexible organic electronic devices
  • A background in reel-to-reel process technology
  • A background in micro or nanofabrication
  • A background in the synthesis and characterization of molecular or nanostructured electronic materials
