Research Areas
Title of the current project: Synthesis of precursors for Atmospheric Plasma Chemical Vapour Deposition (APCVD).
Summary: The aim of the current work is to synthesise, characterise and deposit a range of precursors for Atmospheric Plasma Chemical Vapour Deposition (APCVD). We are interested in depositing metal oxide and fluorine doped metal oxide films onto a variety of surfaces. Metals used during the synthesis include tin, bismuth, indium, and gallium. The most suitable precursors for oxide thin films are molecules that have metal-oxygen bonds. As such, we plan to use metal alkoxides M(OR)n (R = saturated or unsaturated organic group, alkyl or aryl), ß-diketonates M(ß-dik)n (ß-dik = RCOCHCOR') and metal carboxylates M(O2CR)n.
