X-ray Crystallography
The main technique we use to determine the structures of our compounds is X-ray Crystallography, using the two area-detector diffractometers in the School of Chemistry. By measuring the diffraction patterns formed from an X-ray beam passing through a crystal of our product, we can determine its precise molecular structure. Some of the results of this analysis can be found here. |
